Terms of Service (English)

This is an English summary of the Russian-language Terms of Service. The Russian version is the legally binding text and prevails in case of any inconsistency. The Russian original is available at

1. General provisions
1.1. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a public offer under Article 437 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. They define the conditions for using the WeShot service ("Service"), available at weshot.io, in the WeShot mobile applications for iOS, Android and macOS, and any other software products provided by the Operator.
1.2. The parties:

User: a legally capable natural person using the Service.
1.3. The Terms are deemed concluded between Operator and User upon any of: registration via phone number or third-party OAuth (Google, Apple, VK ID); checking "I agree to the Terms of Service" at registration; starting to use the Service as a Guest under an invitation; any other use of Service functionality.
1.4. By performing any of these actions the User confirms that they have read these Terms, the Privacy Policy and the documents at weshot.io/legal, understand them, are at least 14 years old (18 for some features — see §3), and provide accurate information about themselves.
1.5. Users who do not agree must stop using the Service.
1.6. The Operator may unilaterally amend these Terms. Amendments take effect when published at weshot.io/legal/terms. For material changes the Operator gives at least 10 calendar days' advance notice. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
2. Definitions
- WeShot Service — the software-and-hardware system providing the shared event-album functionality, including the website
weshot.io, mobile apps for iOS, Android and macOS, the backend and the API. - Event Album ("Album") — the core object of the Service: a digital shared album for a specific event (wedding, birthday, trip, corporate event, etc.) created by an Organizer.
- Organizer — Registered user who created the Album and controls its settings.
- Co-author — Registered user granted shared management rights (moderation, inviting guests).
- Guest — user (registered or not) invited to an Album by link, QR code, SMS or email.
- Content — photos, videos, messages, reactions, comments, voice messages, polls and other materials placed in the Service by users.
- Account — the set of data identifying a Registered user.
3. Age restrictions
3.1. The Service is intended for users aged 14 (fourteen) or older.
3.2. Users aged 14 to 18 must use the Service with the consent of their legal representative.
3.3. Albums of type "Newborn" (family albums featuring children under 14) may only be created by a legal representative who has signed the Parental Consent.
3.4. The Operator may request age verification at any time.
4. Account registration
4.1. A Registered account is created by phone-number verification or via OAuth (Google, Apple, VK ID).
4.2. The user is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their authentication credentials and for all activity in their account.
4.3. The Operator may suspend or terminate access in cases of violation of these Terms (see §10).
4.4. Guest mode lets users participate in an Album without creating an account; Guests provide only a display name.
5. User content and licence
5.1. The user retains all rights, including intellectual property, in the Content they upload.
5.2. By uploading Content, the user grants the Operator a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, transmit, display and adapt that Content solely as required to provide the Service (storage, indexing, generating thumbnails, face-recognition grouping, in-album display, transmission to album participants).
5.3. The licence terminates when the Content is deleted from the Service, except for the technical retention period in backups (up to 30 days).
5.4. The user warrants they have all rights and consents necessary to upload the Content, including consents from persons depicted.
5.5. The user is solely responsible for their Content. The Operator does not pre-moderate Content (except automated checks) and is not the author of user Content.
6. Prohibited content and behavior
The user agrees not to upload, share or transmit Content that:
- violates Russian Federation law, including content prohibited under Federal Laws No. 149-FZ, No. 38-FZ, No. 436-FZ "On the Protection of Children from Information Harmful to Their Health and Development", and other applicable acts;
- is sexually explicit, contains nudity, or sexualises minors;
- depicts or promotes violence, cruelty, terrorism, extremism, suicide or self-harm;
- contains hate speech, incites discrimination by race, ethnicity, religion or other protected characteristic;
- infringes third-party intellectual-property rights, image rights, privacy or other personal rights;
- contains spam, malware, fraud, phishing or any malicious code;
- impersonates other persons or organizations;
- harasses, bullies or threatens other users;
- breaches confidentiality (state secrets, commercial secrets, third-party personal data without consent).
The Operator has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. The Operator may remove such Content and suspend or terminate the offending user's access without prior notice.
7. Reporting and moderation
7.1. The user may flag inappropriate Content using the in-app report flow.
7.2. The user may block other users in chat and album views; blocked users' messages and contributions become hidden to the user.
7.3. The Operator and the album Organizer review reports. The Operator strives to respond to reports of objectionable content within 24 hours and to remove confirmed violations promptly.
7.4. For copyright complaints (DMCA-style), use support@weshot.io with documentation of ownership and the URL of the disputed Content.
8. Paid features
8.1. Some features of the Service may be paid (extended storage, additional album capacity, premium album types).
8.2. On the App Store version of WeShot, paid digital content and subscriptions are billed via Apple In-App Purchase. On other platforms, payments may be processed via the payment systems integrated with the Service (e.g. Ozon).
8.3. Refunds are governed by the rules of the relevant store (App Store / Google Play / RuStore) or by Russian consumer-protection law where applicable.
9. Intellectual property of the Operator
9.1. All exclusive rights in the Service software, branding, design, source code, documentation and other Service materials belong to the Operator.
9.2. The user is granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes within the functionality the Service provides.
9.3. Reverse engineering, scraping, automated mass downloads, distribution of modified clients, and circumventing Service protections are prohibited.
10. Suspension and termination
10.1. The Operator may suspend or terminate access to the Service if the user breaches these Terms, the Privacy Policy, or applicable law, or if continued provision of the Service to that user is unreasonable for legal or technical reasons.
10.2. The user may delete their account at any time from within the Service. The account is permanently deleted after a 30-day grace period.
11. Disclaimers and liability
11.1. The Service is provided "as is". The Operator does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, complete absence of defects, or compatibility with every device.
11.2. To the extent permitted by Russian law, the Operator is not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental losses, lost profit, lost data, business interruption, or for the actions of third parties (other users, processors, third-party services).
11.3. The Operator is not responsible for the content uploaded by users; users bear sole responsibility for their Content.
12. Personal data
Personal-data processing is described in the Privacy Policy. Use of the Service implies acceptance of the Privacy Policy.
13. Governing law and disputes
13.1. These Terms are governed by the law of the Russian Federation.
13.2. Disputes are resolved through negotiation; the response period for a written claim is 30 calendar days. Unresolved disputes go to a competent court of the Russian Federation.
14. Final provisions
14.1. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
